Road Map for BS Senior Projects

Standard 7-phase graduation journey prescribed by Department of Computer Science

Prerequisite

Courses Completion

Eligibility Prerequisite

Academic eligibility check for senior project enrollment.

Student can register for Final Year Project after completing the requisite core courses as prescribed in the scheme of studies.

Must satisfy minimum credit hours requirement before project allocation.

Policy Regulation

Strict academic prerequisite enforced by department screening committee.

6th Semester

Supervisor Selection and Project Registration

Supervisor & Group Formation

Topic proposal, team formation, and faculty supervisor alignment.

Student can only register for project if he/she successfully completed the core courses.

Project is worth 6 credit hours and ideally completed across two subsequent semesters.

Student should select supervisor according to his/her area of interest and faculty domains.

Policy Regulation

Supervisor approval and consent is mandatory before project confirmation.

6th & 7th Semester

Project Scope and SRS Submission and Defence

Milestone 1 — Scope & SRS

Formal project proposal, scope defense, and software requirements specification.

Submission of scope document will be in 6th semester. Pre-Screening team will decide if the project idea is: i) Accepted ii) Accepted with minor changes iii) Accepted with major changes iv) Not accepted.

After acceptance, student will present his/her project scope with SRS in front of the FYP committee.

If approved, resubmit scope document after incorporating any changes suggested by FYP committee.

Policy Regulation

Students will not be allowed to appear in front of the evaluation committee without evidence of at least four meetings with their supervisor before every milestone.

7th Semester

Project Evaluation – I and SDS Submission

Milestone 2 — 30% Implementation

System design specification with initial working prototype defense.

Student will present his/her project implementation (30%) with SDS in front of the FYP committee.

SDS can be accepted with minor / major revision after incorporating any changes suggested by the committee.

Policy Regulation

If project is plagiarised / behind the timeline / not according to scope, students will get conditional LP (Late Penalty).

8th Semester

Project Evaluation – II

Milestone 3 — 60% Implementation

Advanced feature completion, integration testing, and mid-term evaluation.

Student will present his/her project implementation (60%) in front of the FYP committee.

Evaluation includes functional verification of core modules, database integrity, and architectural consistency.

Policy Regulation

If project is plagiarised / behind the timeline / not according to scope, students will get conditional LP.

8th Semester

Project Evaluation – III

Milestone 4 — 100% Implementation

Complete software implementation, documentation review, and final presentation.

Student will present his/her project implementation (100%) in front of the FYP committee with complete project report.

If approved, submit 2 spiral-bound copies of project report next day of evaluation.

Policy Regulation

If project is plagiarised / behind the timeline / not according to scope, students will get permanent LP and they will appear in next semester.

Graduation Defense

External Defence

Final Viva & Open House

Final evaluation by nominated external examiner and university project exhibition.

Student will present his/her work in front of nominated external examiner.

Submit final approved hard-bound book along with DVD / CD (containing complete project source code, documentation, and executable setup) within 04 days after external evaluation to the FYP secretaries.

Policy Regulation

External examiner evaluation results are submitted to the university exam department for degree finalization.
